GHS - SPRING PROGRAMME 10/3/2010
We are pleased to announce that the following TALKS have been scheduled for Spring 2010 are as follows:

24th March – (AGM) Anthony Cross - Greenwich Lost and Found. After the 'traditionally brief' AGM, our President, Anthony Cross, will take us on a virtual walk around Greenwich. Using all the wizardry of Powerpoint as well as the achive of Warwick Leadlay Gallery, he will seek to uncover and reveal persons and places that have otherwise disappeared from view. En route, we will meet, among others, Thomas Hack the Miser, Dick Moy, Tom Allen and Charles Dibdin. Not to be missed. The 'tour' starts at approximately 8.30; stout footwear is not required!

21st April – Sylvia White – Memories of Growing Up in 1930s – 40s Blackheath and Greenwich.

Born and brought up in Blackheath, Sylvia White grew up in the 1930’s and 40’s when poverty was rife. She was one of five children who were given freedom to roam. This meant that the Heath and the Park were their playgrounds and they came in contact with children from different classes. Blessed with a vivid memory she has written two books about growing up in this area and her talk will be about those times.
Now an active member of the University of the Third Age, she runs groups encouraging people to preserve their memories.
